Philip Kotler, an American scholar and internationally renowned professor of international marketing, was born on May 27, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois. He was born into a family of immigrants from the Russian Empire. Kotler earned his master's degree in economics from the University of Chicago and his Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
