Hosni Mubarak was born on May 4, , in Egypt. His father was a small landowner and worked as an inspector in the legal department.

Early Career

In , Mubarak graduated with honors from a military college and a year later from the Egyptian Air Force Academy. He then continued his studies in Moscow. Upon returning to Egypt, he commanded squadrons and later a brigade. From to , he served as the chief of Egyptian Air Force bases. During this time, Mubarak participated in the Arab-Israeli wars.
